POSITION : Foundry Operative

Due to growth within the business and the awarding of a major long term contract, Cerdic Foundries Limited has a number of vacancies at its site in Chard within Foundry Operations. The foundry operates from Monday to Thursday over 4 day shifts and 4 night shifts, providing our employees with a 3 day weekend. There is no rotation of shifts and candidates selected would be on either; permanent day shift or permanent night shift. Vacancies are available on both shifts in a variety of roles including;

– Moulding
– Melting
– Core making
– Finishing

Rates of pay between £10 and £15.75 per hour dependant on the shift and role carried out. Full training will be given in each of these roles.

POSITION : Maintenance Fitter

Due to growth within the business, Cerdic Foundries Limited has a position open for a Maintenance Fitter role at its site in Chard.

Responsibilities include:

– Planning, Maintenance and repair of foundry plant and equipment including pumps, mixers, shotblasts, cranes, core blowing machines, sand reclamation plant and general tools.
– Adherence to and development of current preventative maintenance plans and schedules.
– Organisation of Maintenance area and office.
– Organisation and storage of sundry items and tools.
– Maintaining files, certificates, reports and records from contractors and suppliers.
– Various other tasks as required.

The ideal candidate will have mechanical maintenance knowledge and experience and worked as a Maintenance Fitter previously. Working knowledge of mechanical components, equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics and pipework is necessary. Welding skills and Electrical knowledge / experience would be advantageous. Previous experience in a foundry or manufacturing environment preferred.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £12.00 – £15.00 per hour dependant on experience.

POSITION : Stores and Goods In Operative

Due to growth within the business, Cerdic Foundries Limited has a position open for a Maintenance Fitter role at its site in Chard.

Role and Responsibilities:

– Transportation of Pattern and Core boxes to and from various production departments
– Accepting and checking deliveries at Goods Inwards
– Inventory recording and warehouse management in stores
– Maintaining Pattern and Core box location system
– Raise and address any issues with boxes and incoming deliveries
– Providing assistance with other tasks as directed
– Ensuring all health & safety practices are performed
– Maintaining area cleanliness and identification of continuous improvement opportunities

The ideal candidate will have good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise, good written and oral communication, problem solving ability, knowledge of MS Excel, Forklift truck licence. Previous production experience in a Foundry or Warehouse environment preferred.

Salary: £10.00 – £10.50 per hour

POSITION : PATTERNMAKER
An opportunity has arisen to join our Patternmaking workshop team,

ROLE
– Read and interpret part drawings and build patterns, core boxes, etc. according to the instructions provided, adding contraction as necessary.
– Maintain and repair patterns, core boxes and modify as required.
– Make pattern boards and bolster frames, chill patterns and other stock parts to be used in the foundry.
– Make and install running, gating and feeding on patterns.
– Clean patterns as required
– Reproduce existing or master patterns
– Create 3D models and program, set-up and run CNC milling machine
– Perform and assist with basic pattern shop duties, such as, loading and unloading of trucks, transporting tooling to and from the pattern shop, changing saw and jointer blades, basic shop and machine maintenance.

PERSON
– Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a Pattern shop, using traditional techniques and 3D modelling software
– General knowledge of foundry operations particularly as they relate to the success of patterns, core boxes, fixtures, and manipulators produced.
– Engineering background, good hand eye coordination, practical approach
– Good mathematical knowledge
– Able to work alone under instruction and assist team members as necessary
– Good communicator
– Must possess a general knowledge of the safe operation of woodworking and metalworking machinery.
– Working under the direction of the Tooling Director and in accordance with general Pattern Shop procedures and practices
